The Angel Tree Project is a ministry that reaches out to the children & families of inmates with the love of Christ. It seeks to transform the lives of these families and to reconcile them to their Heavenly Father and each other.
In Matthew 18:5 Jesus said, "Whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me." There are children right in our community who are among the most at-risk children in the nation. Angel Tree provides an opportunity to connect with those families and begin ministering to them at Christmas and then continue through a variety of year-round ministry opportunities.
Angel Tree Christmas Hampers Programme
Each year, around Christmas, volunteers deliver gift hampers to family members of prisoners: food hampers for parents or siblings, a special gift for a husband or wife, toys for children. The highlight of the gift delivery is a card written by the inmate, carrying heartfelt Christmas greetings. This is one opportunity for the inmate to express his love and gratitude to his family and serves to strengthen or rebuild family ties.
Angel Christmas Tree Programme
Churches are encouraged to set up a “Prisoners’ Tree” where the prayers and wish lists of prisoners and discharged prisoners are hung. Many wishes were simple, such as asking for a EZ Link card, or a pair of spectacles for his children.
